The starting point for this work was a series of workshops at the Kids Haven School in Ghana, where children created houses and their interiors inspired by both Ghana and Poland, using fragments of fabric. These childlike constructions became a symbol of a diverse city in which different worlds can coexist in harmony.
During the artistic residency in Malta, the project developed into a spatial installation consisting of two houses: one transported from Ghana, representing the school, and the other, the artist’s family home in Poland. Visitors can walk through the open doors of both houses, entering both spaces and emotionally experiencing the meeting of two different worlds.
The installation explores the idea of community and human connection, demonstrating that bonds do not require similarity or a shared origin – the school becomes a family for the children, while Nadolle’s home symbolizes blood ties. In this encounter, a vision emerges in which diversity, otherness, and the interweaving of cultures can create a space for living, sharing, and mutual understanding.
Marta Nadolle (b. 1989) is a Polish visual artist specializing in painting. In her artistic practice, she addresses themes of love, alienation, coming of age, intimacy, and interpersonal relationships. Nadolle reworks the tradition of the veduta, intertwining it with inspirations drawn from folk culture.
