Yves Scherer is a visual artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans sculpture, oil painting, and lenticular printing.Imagine is part of the larger group of figurative sculptures that Scherer has been working on since the beginning of his career. It forms part of a more recent series of stone works started in 2023.
The artist began work on the sculpture using a 3D model of a baroque dancer, which he simplified into a more contemporary form, altering the dress and hairstyle. He also changed the figure’s pose to retain a simple, stylised figuration—emerging from a central torso, with no arms or legs extending out. The added ceramic flower is rooted in reality, standing in contrast to the dreamlike nature of the sculpture. For the artist, pink onyx embodies emotional warmth and spiritual connection. It is simultaneously heavy, soft, and fragile—features which also define his sculptural language.
