This commitment led to a collaboration with the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace in Wilanów, aimed at restoring the 17th-century murals in the North Gallery. The Foundation contributed 800,000 PLN to support the conservation of the gallery’s decorative elements and actively promoted efforts to protect this cultural heritage.
Constructed at the end of the 17th century under the patronage of King Jan III Sobieski, the North Gallery, along with its murals by Michelangelo Palloni, represents an exceptional artistic legacy in Poland. The murals depict the mythological love story of Cupid and Psyche, symbolizing the deep affection between Jan III Sobieski and his wife Marysieńka.
Due to the open architectural structure and prolonged exposure to adverse environmental conditions, the decorations suffered severe damage. The conservation work included technological research, documentation, and the comprehensive safeguarding of the gallery’s artwork. The restoration lasted approximately 12 months and was completed in July 2024.
The project involved a team of over a dozen experts, including painting and sculpture conservators as well as materials science specialists. This collaboration between the OmenaArt Foundation and the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace in Wilanów is a prime example of public-private synergy based on shared goals and values.
