The artist residency program is one of the key forms of support offered by the OmenaArt Foundation to artists it collaborates with.
The Foundation provides opportunities to undertake residencies in exceptional locations — including Malta, Ghana, and, in the future, Italy and Poland — creating platforms that foster experience sharing and intercultural dialogue. The first residency, co-organized with LuginsLand of Art in Malta, was awarded to Ida Karkoszka, who spent three months working on her project “Mamma.” The sculpture was created from coralline limestone, a material sourced exclusively on the island. The monumental piece was later exhibited in the OmenaArt Foundation’s thematic pavilion “Other Geographies, Other Stories” and now permanently adorns the urban space of Valletta.
In 2024, the next Maltese residency welcomed the winners of the Kompas Młodej Sztuki and Moskity 2024 competitions: Agata Słowak, Monika Falkus, Emilia Kina, and Zofia Pałucha. Over two weeks, they explored Maltese culture and drew inspiration from the picturesque landscapes of Gozo Island. In October 2024, the Foundation launched its first residency in Ghana, where two artists — Ida Karkoszka and Igor Dobrowolski, both of whom had contributed works to the TOP CHARITY Auction 2024 — had the opportunity to develop new projects and artistic concepts within an African context.
