The program’s name refers to the Latin word arundo, meaning a reed stem — a plant that is strong, fast-growing, yet sensitive — symbolizing the resilience essential in the world of art. The first edition of Artis Arundo was funded by proceeds from the Charity Collectors’ Auction in 2024. During the event, artworks by artists who had represented Poland at previous editions of the Venice Biennale, selected by Anda Rottenberg, were auctioned at the Orangery of Wilanów Palace. This symbolic gesture represented a passing of the baton — artists supporting fellow artists across generations of the art world.
In the 2025 edition of Artis Arundo Spotlight, the spotlight turned to creators with exceptional artistic sensitivity. Participants were selected from among those actively engaged in the art market and involved in supporting the artistic community. Their works were presented in an online auction, with all proceeds going toward scholarships, residencies, and creative projects.
