The exhibition “Redefining. Polish–Ghanaian Textile Narratives” brings together artists from Poland and Ghana — Ernestina Mansa Doku, Marta Nadolle, and Eliza Proszczuk — who created site-specific textile installations during an artistic residency held from January to March 2026.
The project, however, began earlier in Ghana during Accra Cultural Week 2025. At that time, the artists — coming to Malta from Poland and Ghana — initiated a collaborative process focused on intertwining the historical narratives of both countries, drawing on weaving traditions and the island’s local heritage.
During Accra Cultural Week, together with local artists Moses Adjei, Cornelius Annor, and Raphael Adjetey Adjei Mayne, they conducted art workshops for children exploring the textile art heritage of Poland and Ghana. The workshops took place at Kids Haven School, built by the Omenaa Foundation.
A film documenting the residency, titled “The Weave,” was created by Michał Żyłka and Wojtek Ciszkiewicz.
